Success in rescue is achieved by many people working together to save the lives of animals. Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) has been a valuable WAG partner for several years, assisting as needed with our Puppy Prevention program.
Recently our partnership expanded to include shelter cats. Through our joint arrangement, WAG volunteers rescue and foster shelter cats from our area. When they’re ready for adoption, the cats are transported to one of AHS’s large no-kill shelters and are soon adopted into loving homes. Through the support of AHS, we’ve been able to rescue anywhere from 10 to 20 cats per month – a tremendous increase over previous months. Bobo was one of the lucky ones – this sweet kitty found a great home in less than a week after arriving at the Atlanta Humane shelter!
The cat overpopulation problem is significant and shelter euthanasia statistics for felines are high. But this program will undoubtedly save many lives in the months ahead. Our thanks to Atlanta Humane and all our cat-loving sponsors who support these efforts.
