An Ace in the house

Great weekend at adoptions – Sugar, Lucy and Sterling all went to new homes! It’s always wonderful to see dogs that once faced an uncertain future proudly trot off with new families – makes it all worthwhile.<br /><br />We visited the shelter today and pulled Ace, a very frightened and shy American Bulldog mix, about 2 years old. He cowers at sudden movements and is gonna need a whole lot of lovin’ to make his world brighter. But lots of people are committed to helping him. He’ll get neutered, vaccinated, a warm bath and blankets to sleep on at the vets office for a few days. But he’ll be ready for adoption soon – only loving families may apply !<br /><br /><div class=”separator” style=”clear: both;…

Adoption day on 3/10

It should be a great weekend for a Saturday adoption – 65 degrees and sunny! Come out and visit us at Loganville Petsmart this Saturday (March 10, 2012) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We have plenty of great dogs looking for homes!<br /><br /><div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”><a href=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W-YjmKC16OQ/T1mMrZ8SR2I/AAAAAAAAAeI/fakRfvsXSp8/s1600/pets_for_adoption.gif” imageanchor=”1″ style=”margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;”><img border=”0″ height=”225″ src=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W-YjmKC16OQ/T1mMrZ8SR2I/AAAAAAAAAeI/fakRfvsXSp8/s320/pets_for_adoption.gif” width=”320″ /></a></div><br />

Info re:our adoption event weekends

Thanks for checking out WAG’s blog. We’ve been posting news here for several years, but plan to use it more in the future for volunteer news and updates, particularly our plans for adoption events and other opportunities.<br /><br />We only have one foster family currently working weekend adoptions, so our 2012 schedule has occasionally varied. But to make sure we keep volunteers well-informed in the future, here’s our plan: WAG is committed to be at Petsmart in Loganville on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  for adoptions. Volunteers will be used inside at the cattery and also outside with the dogs.<br /><br />We may also hold adoptions on other weekends and will post on this blog…

The surgeons at Athens Veterinary Surgery Center inserted a pin in her rear leg to stabilize the growth plate fracture. After 8 days the bandage was taken off and she’s raring to go. Dr. recommends another week of crate rest and leash walking, then they’ll take another set of x-rays. Hope things will be ok to give Rosie a little more exercise in the coming weeks – it’s getting hard to keep this bouncy girl down!</span></div><br /><br />

Springing into 2012

<div style=”text-align: center;”><span ><br /></span></div><span ><span style=”font-size: 100%;”>I’m so glad spring is around the corner! We’ll be starting a “Meet and Greet” day at Petsmart the first Saturday of each month – we’ll have pets available for adoption and also info on all the WAG programs and how to get involved….

These awesome 8 year olds had a joint birthday party but instead of presents, they decided to raise money for homeless animals. What an awesome job they did, raising nearly $1,000! Amazing. <div><br /></div><div>They stopped by the WAG office to deliver their gift and some pet food. We were really glad to meet them! Lots of animals will be helped by their generosity.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thanks again girls!</div><div><br /></div><div>B.</div><div><br /></div>

Keepin’ busy

We took over 500 lbs of dog/cat food to the WAG pet food pantry at FISH in Monroe. Great donations from Purina, Walmart and Petsmart! <br /><br />Also took this sweet old blind girl to Cornelia on Saturday to meet her new owner. Sad story – her human died and someone cleaning out the house just put her out on the street to fend for herself! Humans are puzzling creatures. She ended up the shelter – most old dogs don’t last long. But thanks to seeing her picture on their website (www.waltonpets.net), Jeanne from NC welcomed her into a new home.<br /><br />I love…

Can you say awwwwwwwwwwwwwww?

Take a look at these cuties we rescued on Friday from Walton Animal Control.
