A New NEW meeting place

OK, Corralejo has great food, but we’ve found a better meeting place – our own office!

We’ve been fortunate to find a small house on Oak Grove Road in Loganville, right behind the Racetrack gas station on Hwy. 78. Owned by Diversified Development, the land is being marketed as commercial property, but the owners offered WAG an affordable rental rate for use of the house until the land sells.

So stay tuned!

new meeting location

Our new meeting spot: Corralejo Mexican Restaurant, 730 Highway 138, Monroe, GA. The restaurant is next to Chick-Fil-A. Meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. Come join us – the food’s great!

B.

WAG meetings

Our meeting location is in transition since Mi Mexico restaurant closed. We’ll be meeting temporarily at the Anna Holbrook building behind Loganville City Hall, 137 C.S. Floyd Road, Loganville. Meeting starts at 6:30 pm. We’re still looking into other possibilities, but will probably keep the meetings in Loganville for awhile.

Meetings are always the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Spring WAG ‘n Walk

Spring is here – Yay!! I was so tired of cold weather. There’s nothing like digging and smelling cool Georgia springtime dirt. April and May are busy for WAG. The Petsmart adopt-a-thon weekend is April 30 – May 1. Some great pets will be available for adoption at both the Loganville and Conyers store, so come out and visit! Adoption hours are 11 am – 4 pm both Saturday and Sunday. We’ll be tabling at the Loganville Starbucks this month to raise awareness of local pet issues. Hope you’ll drop by to say hello. Our biggest news is the upcoming WAG ‘n Walk on May 7 at Meridian Park in Loganville. It’s gonna be an awesome event! A fun walk around the park lake, vendors…

Beat the Heat spay promotion

In February WAG will partner with Paradox Spay Neuter Clinic for the “Beat the Heat” spay promotion.Get your female dog or cat spayed between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28 and you’ll only pay $25! Another Year…..

WAG is off and running on the new year. First, we’ve changed our meeting location. Meetings are now scheduled the 3rd Tuesday of each month at Mi Mexico Mex Grill, 530 Athens Hwy Suite B, Loganville. Look for the restaurant in the strip mall across from the Oasis bowling alley. Dinner is at 6:15, meeting is at 7 p.m. We meet in the back room of the restaurant – come visit and help us make 2011 great!

Thanks to everyone who supported us in 2010. We had a lot of successes, welcomed new volunteers and helped some great people and pets.

In 2010 we provided over 5200 lbs of food to the pet food pantry, rescued more than 120 cats/dogs, and provided subsidized…

Full Speed Ahead

Lots coming up for fall – our community pet calendar will be out soon, our $5,000 drawing tickets will go on sale this month, our super adoption event is next weekend, and our Cruizin’ for Critters motorcycle ride will be in October. Whew! I’m gonna need to take a nap once this is over.

Tail between legs

I’m embarassed – my blog work has slowed again. Here’s the thing, lots of people are on Facebook so I’m spending more time posting there. And although I stay busy, it seems silly to be posting same stuff in two places. My technical skills suck (it’s the paws) but I think there’s a way to combine the two and have posts show up in both places, but that will take a bit of figuring out. If you know how, drop me a note at wagwalton@yahoo.com

Help us have fun!

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Let’s hope the next few weeks give us a little break in temperatures!

Fall/winter are looking to be a busy time for WAG. Two super-adoption events, a motorcycle ride fundraiser, fall festivals, and more will keep us from getting bored! Meeting the public at events, helping with education programs, coordinating adoptions are all tasks we have to manage. A planning committee is also forming to start work on next years WAG Walk.

Let’s hope it’s a good fundraising season – we want to fill our coffers for next year’s spay/neuter season, plus help with more medical expenses for dogs/cats.

But we can’t pull these events off without volunteers. Whether it’s helping at one event, or all…

Pet calendar

The annual Community Pet Calendar contest is underway – don’t forget to visit the website and vote for your favorites!. Entries can be seen at www.flickr.com/photos/wagcalendar/ Voting goes until July 15.

We also have some room left for sponsor ads in the calendar. At only $25 it’s year-round advertising at an incredibly cheap price. Drop us an email at wagwalton@yahoo.com if you’re interested.

Good luck Emma!

We had gorgeous weather and it was cool seeing a parade of dogs walking the streets of downtown Monroe. At least that’s the excuse they keep giving.

It was a lot of fun. WAG ‘n Walk

Things are shifting into high gear for our first WAG ‘n Walk, Walton County’s first pet-oriented festival. We’ll be updating our list of sponsors – thanks to all for their help! – and getting everything ready. Let’s hope this gorgeous weather holds for awhile.

Get an entry form from our website www.wagwalton.com and come out, even if you don’t have a dog. You can walk by yourself or borrow one of our rescue pets. They’d love the companionship.

There’s gonna be music, games, obedience and protection dog demonstrations and all kinda cool stuff.

Mark your calendars!

’til later,

Buddy
