Getting ready for Snellville’s Petsmart

Join us for the Grand Opening of the Snellville Petsmart on Saturday, November 23. They have a big blow-out planned, music, demos, food and fun. And, of course, some very deserving cats and dogs for adoption! The fun starts at 9 am.

We’re getting ready – here are the hardy WAG and Pound Puppies volunteers helping take care of the Snellville kitties. We still have some openings available for new volunteers. Can you offer once or twice a month to help our cats/kittens find new homes? Eating for Waldo!

<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: left;”>Thanks to everyone who came out to Marco’ Pizza in Loganville to support the fundraiser for Waldo. We had a great time, wonderful food and raised $80 for Waldo. A huge THANK YOU to the owners of Marco’s Pizza for agreeing to donate for Waldo. He really misses their pizza, but you do’t have to. Gone Too Soon – Lucinda Wiseman

Is there any doubt that people who love animals are the most compassionate folks around? And the best continue giving even after they’re gone.

We recently learned of the passing of Lucinda Wiseman, a kind, wonderful person who was an early supporter of WAG. She volunteered for awhile until life took her in other directions, but she remained a friend.

Lucinda passed away too soon from cancer, but to honor her love of pets the family requested donations to her favorite causes. As a result, Walton Animal Guild was the recipient of 14 Kuranda beds for our dogs – all donated by people who loved Lucinda!

We’re grateful for their kindness. Lucinda’s love of animals will continue to keep our rescue dogs…

More Waldo

Waldo is making good progress – his tail wags and he barks greetings like all the the other foster dogs when we come outside to visit. Getting the leash around his neck was much easier today, he realizes good things happen when we go out on the leash.

We took a short video this afternoon – meet our happy Basset boy!

<span style=”background-color: #f3f3f3; border: 0px; color: blue; cursor: pointer; font-family: arial, sans-serif; line-height: 11px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none;”><a href=”http://youtu.be/YN2BKLbHpVQ” style=”border: 0px; cursor: pointer; font-family: arial, sans-serif; line-height: 11px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none;” target=”_blank”>http://youtu.be/YN2BKLbHpVQ

<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”><a href=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_r68K6RWTgU/Unx9B1AM5XI/AAAAAAAABZE/zDc4Mu4ZEaE/s1600/Waldo2.jpg” imageanchor=”1″ style=”margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;”>

<br…

A Wow Weekend!

What an amazing weekend at the Dog Days Adoption event in Salem, CT. We took 18 dogs, 14 of them were adopted in awesome homes. Some of these dogs had been waiting for quite a while for the right home, so we’re thrilled to see them finally part of a happy family! Thanks again to our support system: Pound Puppies ‘n Kitten rescue, Paradox Spay Neuter Clinic, and our dedicated transport drivers, Jim and Terry, for their time and efforts. And a big WAG hug of gratitude to volunteers Dee Dee and Monda who stepped up at the last minute to get us through the weekend. Y’all are awesome!

Check out some pictures of our weekend:

<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”><a href=”http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xjV61bNa9UQ/UnLDh8DUkuI/AAAAAAAABWk/r8YVVCREZxs/s1600/883158_10202307547955976_414232552_o.jpg”…

Look out Snellville – here comes WAG!

Another exciting opportunity is coming our way. Petsmart will be opening a new store in Snellville, GA., at Hwy. 124 and Ronald Reagan Parkway. WAG, along with fellow rescue group Pound Puppies and Kittens, will be working dog and cat adoptions at that store!! This is expected to be a very busy store and wonderful location for pet adoptions. We’ll need new volunteers to help with weekend adoptions and caring for cats in the in-store cattery during the week. But what an amazing opportunity to save more furry lives!

Don’t worry – we’ll still be visiting the Loganville store for weekend adoptions. But adding another location opens up more adoption possibilities for our animals and that’s a very good thing!

Our thanks to…

New roommates
Welcome to a few new furry faces. Ginger was rescued from the Walton Co. shelter this week. She’s a very sweet, timid but spunky girl and has bonded quickly with Cricket, a four month old pup.
<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”><a href=”http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NFbImGcAdr8/Uk-m_rw0eqI/AAAAAAAABVo/8ETxIe1tkoU/s1600/Cricket+Ginger.jpg” imageanchor=”1″ style=”margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;”>

Cinnamon is a 4-5 year old poodle and is going to make someone a wonderful pet. I’ll never understand why these awesome dogs end up in the shelter.

<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”><a href=”http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AkH2otBnD84/Uk-nV8cUe6I/AAAAAAAABV4/M9TtJFAnttQ/s1600/Cinammon.jpg” imageanchor=”1″ style=”margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;”>

Arnie was recently given away on a Facebook pet rehoming page, but somehow ended up at the shelter anyway. Their loss is our gain, because this guy…

A WAG Rescue Dog’s Life, Part II

Concrete and kennels are only a small part of rescue. Keeping our dogs healthy and happy while they’re waiting for a new home is our most important goal.

Dogs love daily routine. To keep kennel dogs from getting bored, we have several outings each day in good weather. Much like children, dogs like to keep busy with a variety of activities. Climbing, jumping, wrestling and chasing each other, catching balls or playing in the leaves are just a few of the fun doggy things available.
<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both;”>

<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both;”>

<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”><a href=”http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GZKFuX2M-HI/UhnpQhgdPXI/AAAAAAAABP4/9-Wv6KU–D8/s1600/Jake_edited-1.jpg” imageanchor=”1″ style=”margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;”>
<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both;”>

<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align: center;”>

<div class=”separator” style=”clear: both; text-align:…

Jake at the Ritz

Meet the newest guest of WAG’s Ritz Snarlton kennel hotel – Jake. Nicknamed “Turtle” in the Walton shelter, we gave him a more respectable moniker and had him completely vetted.

Jake is a little thin right now, but is chowing down well and will soon be a sleek handsome boy. He’s a very attentive guy and is learning obedience commands quickly. He gets along well with the other foster dogs and loves group playtime.

This awesome boy is available for adoption.
